Chapter 6

Lycaon

Wrapping my arm around her stomach, I move her carefully so we’re both on our sides, and then I remove the chains from around her wrists so that she may sleep more peacefully. I keep her close so that my knot stays exactly where it is. Earlier, I threatened to keep it in all night if she moved, but it seems logical to just keep her stuffed anyway. As I lick the fresh wound on her shoulder, I stare at the reflector on the table next to the bed and huff in irritation because it’s too far from reach. Bri is sleeping, and I do not want to wake her.

Someone knocks on the door.

The door opens. It is one of my staff. Orgode. The male ogre peeks his head inside the room, his singular eye glued to the floor.

“Plug your nose,” I bark at him. “You don’t deserve to smell my mate’s cunt.”

If he doesn’t comply, he’s dead.

“Yes, Master.”

A part of me is displeased with the fact that he does as instructed, because he should pay for the intrusion.

“Well? What do you want?”

“The roast is burnt.”

My tail whaps the side of the bed, my ears flattening with rage. “Of course the roast is fucking burnt.”

I make a mental note to hire better people. Ogres make great butlers and staff, but I swear they are fucking clueless sometimes. It is no wonder there is only one on the Interspecies Council instead of four.

“Is that it?”

“Yes.”

“Get the fuck out of my sight before I rip the only eye out of your head,” I snarl.

By the time he leaves, my tail is whapping so hard, I fear the vibrations it causes will wake Bri up.

Fucking ogre.

Another thought pops into my head, and I chide myself for not making him pass me the reflector before he left.

With nothing to do, I curl a talon through her silky blonde hair, feeling the soft, fine strands against the pads of my fingers. Her scalp smells like some kind of flower, like that red thorny one, no, the yellow one with giant stalks that face the sun. Fuck, that’s the best my brain can describe. I am an Alpha; I do not waste time learning about trivial things. I have responsibilities.

When I came crashing through the veil to the human realm via an old troll booth that somehow managed to survive The Shattering, I had thought my life was over. There were so many tribulations to get where I am today. Many heads have rolled, many throats slashed. But I regret nothing because it has all led me to this filthy little human.
